Dear Colleagues,

It is with mixed emotions that I write to let you know that Lisa Fredman, Director of Faculty Development, will be stepping down from her post as of August 31, 2018. She will be taking a 12 month leave of absence from SPH to complete a clinical internship in counseling psychology.

Lisa has served as Director of Faculty Development since January 2016. She has been a wonderful mentor to our faculty and has significantly expanded and strengthened our portfolio of faculty development activities. In particular, she designed and has overseen the School’s first structured faculty mentoring program and has co-led our Faculty Grant Writing Workshop. Additionally, she has worked closely with the faculty senate as well as with in support of campus-level faculty development initiatives, such as the Academy for Faculty Advancement, Mid-Career Faculty Leadership Program, and Women’s Leadership Advisory Board.

Lisa has had a long-standing commitment to faculty development throughout her career and we have been fortunate to have her in this role at SPH. Perhaps not surprisingly, given the warmth and kindness she exhibits as a mentor, she has developed a passion for counseling and has been working toward a Master’s degree in counseling psychology. The leave of absence will provide her the opportunity to pursue this next chapter of her career.

A reception honoring Lisa’s accomplishments as Director of Faculty Development will be held on August 23 in the Founders Room from 2:30-3:30 p.m. Please join me in thanking her for her contributions and wishing her well on her internship.

Best,

Mike McClean, ScD
Associate Dean for Research and Faculty Advancement
