  • Starts: 1:00 pm on Thursday, January 23, 2025
  • Ends: 1:50 pm on Thursday, January 23, 2025
Join the Qualitative Methods Seminar on Thursday, January 23rd at 1pm. Yareliz Diaz, MPH, will present "Cascading Disasters: Understanding the Mental Health Effects of Hurricane María and COVID-19 on Crisis Migrant Families".

This analysis seeks to understand the mental health of Puerto Rican crisis migrant families following a traumatic natural disaster and a global pandemic. We conducted a mixed methods analysis of data from the NIH-funded Adelante Boricua Project (ABP). Qualitative data were from a subsample of 10 parent/child dyads. Our study suggests that the compounded stressors from the hurricane, migration, and the COVID-19 pandemic affected families differently based on multiple factors.

The session will be hybrid.
