Writing Workshop: Strategies for Self-Editing.

Are your sentences filled with a lot of unnecessary words? Do you always exceed word limits? Does the vitality of your ideas get weighed down or lost in long sentences filled with technical language? If you said yes to any of these questions then this workshop is for you. Spend your lunchbreak with Jen Beard focus on your writing at the sentence-level, and looking for ways to excavate your good ideas and crisp prose from the bloat that too often afflicts academic writing. Please bring a draft of a paper you are in the process of writing or something you wrote a while ago and would like to improve. The paramedic method works best when you are in the revision and polishing phase of the writing process. But any piece of writing will work for the purposes of this workshop.
