What is a Practicum?
The practicum (PH976) is a required graduate-level internship that allows MPH students to apply the knowledge gained in the classroom in a real-world public health setting. Finding a practicum will also help you learn how to navigate the post-graduation job marketplace so you are more equipped to find the right job after obtaining your MPH. While students are ultimately responsible for securing a practicum on their own, the BUSPH Career & Practicum Office is here to support students in every step of the way, so you are not alone.
During your field hours for PH976 you will be supervised by a Public Health expert at your host organization where you will develop a variety of public health competencies while doing real public health work. A good practicum project will be challenging, related to your interests, and hone desired professional skills that will benefit you as you plan for and seek your post-graduation career.
