Dean Galea Receives Honorary Doctor of Science in Scotland.
The University of Glasgow has awarded Dean Sandro Galea an honorary doctor of science degree in recognition of his ongoing work in improving the health of underserved populations. Founded in 1451 by a papal decree, the University of Glasgow is the fourth-oldest institution of higher education in the English-speaking world.
Dean Galea received his honorary degree during the July 2 graduation of the University of Glasgow’s School of Medicine and its Institutes of Cardiovascular & Medical Sciences, Health & Wellbeing, and Neuroscience & Psychology. University Chancellor Sir Kenneth Calman presented Dean Galea with the honorary doctorate.
During several days of ceremonies, the university bestowed similar honors to 19 individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds, including science, education, LGBT rights, sports, and business.
