Course Evaluations.

The Boston University School of Public Health is dedicated to excellence in teaching. We count on you to give us feedback, and we read every comment submitted. Your faculty and leadership within each department comb through each evaluation to learn more about what is working and what could be improved on. At the end of the semester, your comments will be available for viewing by the BUSPH community via the course evaluation website. Your thoughtful responses on this evaluation provide an easy way for your peers to access information about how you felt about the course and may be helpful in the course selection process.

Feedback we receive from course evaluations is used to make decisions about:

  1. The way information is transmitted through varied teaching methods (such as lectures, workshops, case-based learning, and guest speakers)
  2. The organization of your course (including workflow, materials, and individual and team-based assignments)
  3. The sequencing of courses both within your degree program and your concentration
  4. Training opportunities for faculty and staff to enhance your learning experience

Since your feedback has a large impact on the educational programs at the BUSPH, we count on you to provide professional and constructive feedback in the open ended questions. Much like when you receive feedback from faculty on assignments, specific feedback can help identify strengths and areas for growth. Faculty are looking for specific and clear feedback on elements of the course that can help them make decisions about future courses. For example:

“The workshops gave me the chance to understand concepts before coming into the classroom, so I could ask questions and get help on complicated topics before I practiced them with my peers. I felt more confident about the subject matter when I was able to listen to lectures before stepping into class” gives your instructor more information than “I liked the workshops.”

Your list of pending evaluation(s) can be accessed by visiting the site using your username and Kerberos password. The close date for each evaluation is directly related to the end date of your course, and will be included in emails you receive about course evaluations and on your course evaluation dashboard.

*Important instructions for completing evaluations*

  • When completing any individual course evaluation, please note that you must complete and submit that evaluation in its entirety before closing your browser, or you will need to start over at a later time with a blank evaluation (i.e., there is no “save and continue later” option within an individual course evaluation).
  • Please allow 15 minutes for completion of each individual evaluation.
  • If you are registered for more than one course, you do NOT need to complete all of your evaluations at one time; you will continue to receive reminder emails for any outstanding evaluations until all of your evaluations are completed.
  • All BUSPH courses are evaluated online. While your responses are anonymous, the system tracks who completes evaluations and will continue to send you email reminders until your evaluations are complete. Once the evaluation period closes, all of the email addresses are automatically deleted from the system in order to maintain anonymity.
  • If you haven’t received an emailed invitation to complete your course evaluations, please check your spam or junk folder for an email from spheducation@bu.edu.

We thank you for your time and thoughtful, constructive responses. If you have any questions or concerns please contact the SPH Education Office (spheducation@bu.edu).
