How do I view my schedule, account, compliance status, etc.?
MyBU Student is a secure, official Boston University site that allows student online access to their registration activity, class schedule, grades, compliance status, student account, and additional information. You can access MyBU Student using your email login name and password.
Who is my advisor?
You will be able to view your advisor on your Dashboard or under Academics/ Advisor Information in the MyBU Student portal. If you do not have an advisor listed:
- Doctoral and MS students should contact their department about having an advisor assigned.
- MPH students:
- Make sure that you have declared a certificate. Your certificate choice triggers advisor assignment. If you need to declare or change your certificate, please view the “how do I declare or change my certificate” question.
- If you have declared a certificate but don’t have an advisor, contact the certificate staff in your functional certificate.
- If you have not decided on a certificate yet, you can contact Megan Healey, MPH Director, with academic advising questions.
I’m an MPH student, how do I declare or change my certificate?
If you need to declare or change your certificate, you should use the Certificate Declaration or Change Form on our forms page.
All MPH students, with the exception of the MBA/MPH, need to choose a functional certificate. JD/MPH students are required to complete the Health Policy and Law certificate but can choose to complete another certificate. Additionally, students may choose to complete a context certificate or another functional certificate. More certificate information is available on the education website.
How do I select my intended graduation date?
Boston University has three graduation dates:
- January, for students completing all requirements in a fall semester
- May, for students completing all requirements in a spring semester
- August, for students completing all requirements in a summer semester
Your expected graduation date will depend on the program that you are in and how you plan to complete your credit and curriculum requirements.* For example, a MPH student who starts in a fall semester might consider the following options**:
Semester | January Grad (planned) | May grad (planned) | August Grad (planned) |
Fall (1st year) | 16 credits*** | 16 credits*** | 8 credits*** |
Spring (1st year) | 16 credits + career prep | 16 credits + career prep | 8 credits |
Summer (1st year) | practicum (240 hours) | 8 credits + career prep
Fall (2nd year) | 16 credits + ILE | 8 credits + practicum (240 hours) | 8 credits + practicum (120 hours) |
Spring (2nd year) | 8 credits + ILE | 8 credits + practicum (120 hours)
Summer (2nd year) | 8 credits + ILE |
*Certain programs may have restrictions on how you can complete requirements, make sure to read material distributed by your program or certificate. Some classes are offered only in fall or only in spring and more classes are offered in fall/spring semesters than summer semesters; keep offer pattern and prerequisites in mind when making your curriculum plan. International students studying on visas that require full-time status must make sure that their curriculum plan meets ISSO standards.
**This is not an exhaustive list of requirements, this example is only for illustrative purposes. To learn how to view your requirements, please visit Program Requirements.
***Please view the Enrollment Status page to understand how registered credits affect your enrollment status.
