4/3: Prof. Byrne Moderates IOC Panel on Homelessness Feat. Author Gregg Colburn

BU Initiative on Cities and BU School of Social Work are hosting a book talk and discussion on April 3rd with author Gregg Colburn and local leaders in the field of housing and homelessness, moderated by Associate Professor Thomas Byrne. The event features Colburn’s new book, “Homelessness is a Housing Problem.” Lyndia Downie, president and executive director of the Pine Street Inn, and Nikki Barfield, deputy director of Supportive Services for Veteran Families, will join Colburn and Byrne for the panel discussion.

Thomas Byrne is an associate professor at Boston University School of Social Work. His specialties include homelessness, housing, and social policy analysis, and his research has been published in journals including Health Affairs, American Journal of Public Health and Housing Policy Debate. Byrne also serves on the board of directors at Hearth, Inc., a Boston-based organization aimed towards eliminating homelessness among the elderly through prevention, placement and housing programs.
