Alum Jackie Jenkins-Scott (SSW’73) Receives Excellence Award from the New England Board of Higher Education

Jackie Jenkins-Scott, an alum of BU School of Social Work (BUSSW) and interim president of Roxbury Community College, was honored with the Massachusetts Excellence Award by the New England Board of Higher Education. Recognized for her extensive leadership in education and healthcare, Jenkins-Scott’s work has significantly impacted underserved communities by promoting equity and access to these essential services. Her leadership has been characterized by a commitment to social justice and community empowerment. During her time at Roxbury Community College, she established a new Business Innovation Center and Center for Economic and Social Justice. She previously served as the first African American president of Wheelock College and is celebrated for revitalizing the Dimock Center in Roxbury.
In addition to her professional background, Jenkins-Scott has served on numerous boards, including the Boston Foundation and the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation. Most recently, she was the guest speaker for BUSSW’s 2024 commencement ceremony.
