BU Partners with TurboVote to Register Students and Staff to Vote
A University-wide initiative to get students and staff registered to vote will be bolstered by efforts from BU’s School of Social Work at new student orientation on September 5.
This latest push to increase participation in the upcoming midterm elections was spurred by BU’s new partnership with TurboVote, an online tool that makes it easy to determine voter registration status. TurboVote also offers guidance on changing your voting location, absentee voting, and voter registration.
At BUSSW’s Charles River Campus orientation, students will be given the opportunity to register with BU TurboVote on computers provided by the university. BUSSW’s voter registration organizers – Clinical Professor Betty Ruth; Assistant Director for Online Program Advising and Field Education, Kristina Whiton-O’Brien; and Field Education Coordinator Diane Crowley – are calling on the School’s larger social work network to spread voter registration information. There will also be additional opportunities to register and learn more about how and where to vote throughout the fall.
As 2018’s midterm elections draw near, we remind all members of our community: Social work is political.
