BUSSW’s Asst. Dir. of Online Field Education Joins New BU Staff Advisory Council

Boston University School of Social Work‘s (BUSSW) assistant director of online field education, Roberta “Robbie” Sanders, LCSW, will support the top levels of university leadership as one of only 10 staff members appointed to the BU Staff Advisory Council (BU-SAC) this year.
As a member of the advisory council, Sanders will represent the interests of the 6,400 staff at the university, which is one of the largest employers in the Boston area.
Sanders says she is “honored and thrilled,” to have the opportunity to represent her BUSSW colleagues at the university level, and “excited to join a talented and committed group of BU staff members who come from diverse roles and lived experiences to advance the staff experience at BU.”
The BU Staff Advisory Council (BU-SAC), which reports directly to the president, was created in 2023 following a recommendation from the University’s Task Force on Workplace Culture (TFWC).
The council’s purpose is to identify and assess the activities, events, and programs that inform the BU’s workplace place. It will also foster direct, regular communication between staff and University leadership to address issues that impact workplace culture and identify opportunities for improvement.
Robbie Sanders joined BUSSW full-time in 2018 after serving as a BUSSW field instructor since 1999 and regional advisor for the Online MSW Program since 2016. Prior to 2018, Sanders held non-profit management positions and worked for the Department of Labor and YouthBuild USA providing guidance and technical assistance to YouthBuild programs nationwide.
