Dean Barbara Jones Elected to SCoAR Executive Board

Boston University School of Social Work (BUSSW) is proud to announce that Dean Barbara Jones, a national social work leader and one of the nation’s leading scholars in psychosocial oncology and palliative care, has been elected to serve as member-at-large on the executive board of the Social Work Collective to Advance Research (SCoAR).
SCoAR, formerly known as the St. Louis Group, is a coalition of social work deans and directors from institutions across the United States and Canada. The collective is committed to strengthening research capacity within social work, advancing research that informs practice and policy, and driving systems change to promote social justice, equity, and inclusion.
Prior to joining BUSSW in 2023, Dean Jones was a distinguished professor at the University of Texas at Austin School of Social Work for nearly two decades. She has held multiple national leadership roles in social work and health, including as president of the Association of Pediatric Oncology Social Workers and founding board member of the Social Work in Hospice and Palliative Care Network. She currently serves as an executive board member of the American Academy of Social Work and Social Welfare (AASWSW) and as a steering committee member of the National Coalition for Social Work and Health. She is also a national advisory board member for the Cambia Health Foundation Sojourns Scholars Program, which funds and mentors interdisciplinary palliative care scholars across the country.
