To our SSW Community,

It is frightening to see what is happening at the Capitol this afternoon. This event, and the words and actions from some leaders leading to it, sadly remind me of what it was like growing up under a military dictatorship in Chile. The contrast between how peaceful Black Lives Matter protesters were treated this spring and the experiences of the armed militia today does not go unnoticed. This situation impacts all of us, but I can only imagine the emotions that it is generating among our students and community members in or near DC. We want you to know we are here to support you. If DC area students need to reach us, please email sswolp@bu.edu. You can find resources for the social justice movement here.

Though frightening, today I am further propelled to ensure our School’s commitment to social justice remains unwavering.  And that we work even harder to build the better world we all so desperately need and deserve.

In solidarity,

Jorge
