Join BUSSW professor Dr. Phillipe Copeland on October 14th for a virtual presentation titled, “The Nation is Sick: Abolition and Health Justice.” 

Copeland’s lecture is the second in a three-part series on race and racism organized by the Public Health and Community Medicine Department’s Diversity, Equity, and Anti-Racism (DEAR) Council at Tufts University School of Medicine. 

Dr. Phillipe Copeland, a clinical assistant professor at BU School of Social Work, is an expert on racial justice, mass incarceration, and the Black Lives Matter movement. A nationally recognized scholar, he has helped lead numerous social justice-based initiatives, including the recent Grand Challenge to Promote Smart Decarceration, a project of the American Academy of Social Work & Social Welfare (AASWSW).

The lecture, which will stream live on Zoom, will begin with introductions by Tufts Associate Professor and Department Chair Dr. Amutah-Onukagha, and Master’s Candidate Melissa Wu. The lecture will close with a brief Q&A session.
