Prof. Ha Promoted to Associate Professor with Tenure

Faculty member Yoonsook Ha, Ph.D., an expert in using data analysis to understand and improve the efficacy of government-funded social support programs, has been promoted to associate professor with tenure.
Ha, who teaches social welfare policy, currently leads three grant-supported projects for which she receives funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. All three projects examine the quality and efficacy of subsidized child care, which Ha has studied for more than a decade.
Ha has published work widely in peer-reviewed journals including Children and Youth Services Review, Poverty and Public Policy, and Early Childhood Research Quarterly, and has also co-authored reports for the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care and the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine Committee.
Ha joined BUSSW as an assistant professor in 2011 following three years as an assistant professor and research affiliate at University of South Carolina’s College of Social Work.
In a message to faculty and staff, Dean Jorge Delva wrote:
“An excellent teacher, Professor Ha’s scholarship seeks to uncover gaps in social policies that impact low-income families, particularly to identify the unintended – and intended – consequences that create unequal access and unequal distribution of resources. It is an understatement to say that her research could not be more timely in this age of Covid-19.”
