Kim Hokanson Appointed to NASW’s National PACE Board of Trustees

Kim Hokanson, a lecturer at BU School of Social Work (BUSSW), has been appointed to the National Political Action for Candidate Election (PACE) Board of Trustees at the National Association of Social Workers (NASW). This new role reflects her deep commitment to shaping policies that advance social and economic justice.

PACE plays a critical role in supporting candidates for public office who align with NASW’s goals, including advancing social justice, equity, and policies that benefit individuals and communities. The board also promotes political education and action among social workers, emphasizing the importance of advocacy in achieving systemic change.

Hokanson has been a member of Massachusetts PACE since 2016 and is currently chair.  Additionally, during the 2024 election cycle, she co-chaired Social Workers for Harris/Walz, an initiative that hosted a national community call and organized more than a dozen phone banks to mobilize voters.

Social workers interested in getting involved in advocacy efforts are encouraged to connect with Kim Hokanson or visit socialworkers.org or naswma.org for resources and opportunities.
