Professor Melvin Delgado Publishes New Book

Professor Melvin Delgado’s latest book, Celebrating Urban Community Life: Fairs, Festivals, Parades, and Community Practice, was published by University of Toronto press in April 2016.

A comprehensive guide to understanding and enhancing communal celebrations, Celebrating Urban Community Life utilizes case studies from New York, San Francisco, and Toronto and examines the role of celebrations in enriching community. “Celebrations of any kind bring out the best in us,” Delgado writes in the book.
