Members of the youth advisory board developed by BUSSW Profs. Astraea Augsberger and Linda Sprague Martinez, and Katherine Gergen-Barnett from Boston Medical Center will present as part of the opening plenary session at Boston Area Research Initiative (BARI): Building Back Smarter. The youth advisory board presenters; Ja’Karri Pierre, Catherine Le, Rosaylin Bautista, and Osasenaga Idahor; will explore youth conceptualizations of health during COVID-19 and youth-driven recommendations for policymakers in their presentation, “Covid-19 Shines a Light on Health Inequities for Communities of Color in the Greater Boston Area.”

BARI’s annual conference has become “a unique forum for sharing how greater Boston’s civic data community is advancing a more equitable, just, and democratic society–and setting an agenda for what we need to do now. In 2021 this mission is more critical than ever. As we build back from a crippling pandemic and grapple with revelations of racial injustice and inequities, we want to highlight efforts where data and technology are catalyzing our recovery as we look toward the future.”
