Wendy Miller Olapade
Lead Pastor at Sanctuary UCC
- Title Lead Pastor at Sanctuary UCC
- Education M. Div. at Boston University School of Theology
With a passion for creative and emerging worship, a heart for extravagant welcome and the provocative instincts of a prophet, Rev. Wendy inspires others to be their best selves and brings holy joy, an evangelist’s spin and a sense of celebration to all that she does.
Leading her legacy congregation out of their building to follow Jesus into the streets (In Search of Sanctuary story) Rev. Wendy helped the Holy Spirit guide the historic congregation to restart as a 3.0, emerging church experiment – centered on the ‘spiritual but not religious’. The new church model is grounded in community partnerships and focuses on:
- collaborative worship and faith formation through ARTChurch, Faith and Film and other unique opportunities;
- spreading love and care beyond the church through volunteer ministries such as the Medford Cares and LakotaYouthStay Program; and
- social justice and moral leadership in the city of Medford. Rev. Wendy serves in leadership of numerous local non-profits including Medford Health Matters, Medford Interfaith Clergy, Medford Overcoming Addiction, and has helped to found grass roots community organizing groups such as SafeMedford, and the Medford Conversations Project.
