- FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENT:
$20,000/year including deductions for applicable taxes
- EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS:
– meet Safe Sanctuaries standards (must be 24 years old to work with Youth to 19 years)
– pass a background check required by UNYUMC annual conference
– must receive Safe Sanctuaries training and certification (provided by church)
– must be interviewed and approved by the Staff Parish Relations Committee
- CHURCH JOB EXPECTATIONS: (negotiable)
a) Be amenable to the Staff Parish Relations Committee for work, especially for the submission and review of church program plans and to receive prayer support and ministry advocacy.
b) Participates on the Church’s Education Ministry Team (5 times/year), Administrative Council/ChargeConference (6 times/year)
c) Coordinates program calendar with Senior Pastor
d) co-teaches a weekly Sunday morning Youth Class
e) Identifies teen Youth leaders to work with Adult leaders in planning and implementing a coordinated Youth Ministry plan.
f) Leads a monthly Youth Team meeting to provide planning and coordination of regular Youth gatherings
g) The Youth Ministry plan to include a monthly mission/service project (Westside Urban Ministry, Rescue Mission, CROP Walk or other local community/church projects.
h) organizes Youth Retreats/ events such as participation in Word Of Life REVERB with particular attention to participation on UNYUMC sponsored Youth programming such as SOLID, Upward, Mission of Peace hosted by the CCYM (Conference Council of Youth Ministry) or Camps Conference and Retreat Ministries.
i) organizes a yearly mission trip/retreat outside of the local community during summer break
j) Schedules time for student/family contact.
k) Maintains a Youth Facebook page and submits articles for the Church’s webpage and newsletters
- SCHEDULE: (negotiable)
Office:12 hours/week
Instruction/program leadership: 7 hours /week
Meetings/Administration: 1 hour/week
Total Working Covenant: 20 hours per week
5. LFUMC PROGRAM GOALS FOR YOUTH MINISTRY:
a) make disciples of LFUMC Youth, defined in terms of:
– attending to spiritual disciplines
– identifying, training, and deploying spiritual gifts
– spiritual development and maturity
– Youth centered, led and owned program
– encouraging a mission/service life
– helping Youth reach and disciple other Youth
