Position: DIRECTOR OF INTENTIONAL FAITH DEVELOPMENT
FLSA Status: Exempt Status: Full-time Reporting to: Pastor
First United Methodist Church in Pasadena (Calif.) is a progressive and active parish of 600 members that has been serving central Pasadena since 1875. The congregation seeks a person to provide full-time leadership in further developing the church’s program of Christian formation with children, youth and adults.
The current program includes Sunday morning programming for all ages; a well-established youth program (grades 7-12); small-group studies for adults and annual projects such as Vacation Bible School and the summer Youth Tour. Initiatives for the near future include strong emphasis on strengthening our ministry with ages 0-18, implementation of the Messy Church program and expansion of adult learning opportunities.
Skills and Attributes Required:
- Must possess a mature Christian faith and a sense of vocation/call to the ministry of Christian discipleship. A United Methodist background is preferred but not required.
- Five years minimum experience successfully leading Christian Education programs across all age groups is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required. Graduate work in Christian Education (or similar) is desirable.;
- Background check for the church’s Safe Gatherings policy is required.
- A current Driver’s License.
Compensation: Salaried with health care benefits; Compensation level will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
