Research Interests

Angel Bernice Clark is Practical Theology PhD student at Boston University School of Theology concentrating in mission and evangelism. Her proposed study and research look at black millennial women’s religiosity and women of the Hebrew Bible as a means to decolonize mission and evangelism to give the Church new methods in thinking about Evangelism and Church Innovation (eg. Church renewal and church planting). Her research interests include practical theology, mission and evangelism, womanist theology, social ministry organizations, transgenerational communities, and religious plurality.  Angel is from Atlanta, GA by way of Columbia, South Carolina. She was baptized and raised at Emmanuel AME Church in Columbia, SC. Angel graduated from Spelman College with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science in 2005 and spent over eleven years in software development. In Atlanta, Angel was on the initial leadership team which launched Impact Church, one of the fastest-growing United Methodist Churches in the country. Angel graduated from Duke University-Duke Divinity School in 2019 with a Master of Divinity and Certificate in Missional Innovation. While at Duke, Angel served as the Ministry Coordinator at Open Table United Methodist Church, a new revitalization church plant in downtown Raleigh which aims to be a church that bridges the gap of race, economics, age, sexuality, and strives to share life together. She also serves as a Technology and Program Consultant with the Samuel Dewitt Proctor Conference in Chicago, IL.
