Profile

Mary Page Wilson-Lyons
PhD Student in Practical Theology
Academic Concentration
Church and Society
Research Interests
My research interests include trauma studies, psycho-cultural dimensions of religion, narrative, and liberation theologies—disability theology in particular. My project studies how women’s experience of mental illness and trauma impact human flourishing. I am interested in questions such as: What does flourishing look like when women live under conditions of toxic stress, which physically alters brain function? What is “wholeness” and who gets to define it? I hope that my project will add to the conversations and questions that are constructing and challenging Christian theologies of healing and wholeness.
