Tony Nguyen
Enrollment Officer & ISSO Liaison
Tony B. Nguyen is the School of Theology’s Enrollment Officer & ISSO Liaison. Originally from Fredericksburg, Virginia, Tony moved to Boston by way of Durham-Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and lives in the Fenway-Back Bay area. Before moving to Boston, Tony completed his MDiv from Duke Divinity School in 2023, and spent the next year working as a research assistant to a faculty member in the Duke University Department of Religious Studies.
During his MDiv, Tony focused on studying the Hebrew Bible/Old Testament with particular interest in historical and literary criticism, practical theology, environmental ethics, and religion and modernity. At the same time, Tony also worked on sustainable farms throughout North Carolina. His first encounter with agriculture was through a farm maintained by his home church at the time in Greensboro, North Carolina back in 2017. The farm was led by two seminary graduates who are now some of his closest friends.
Tony moved to Boston to follow his partner’s work in the medical field, and is excited to help prospective students discern a call to pursue formal theological education. He is especially keen to support and welcome potential students from abroad, as Tony was born to Vietnamese immigrant parents, and has grown up around internationals all his life, with himself living at the intersection between migrant poverty and American privilege.
When Tony is not busy meeting students or processing visa documents in Sweet One-Oh-Great (Suite 108), you can find him playing soccer across the river in Cambridge, watching English soccer and supporting Arsenal Football Club over at Dillon’s Pub off Boylston, trying out all the great cuisine that New England has to offer (he loves sushi, fried chicken, anything savory!), or last but certainly not least—enjoying a long, meandering wellness walk with his beloved, Claire.
