Training and Development Specialist, United Methodist Communications

Basic Purpose:  We are seeking a creative and innovative Training and Development Specialist to assist in the design, development and delivery of training content and tools that address the communications training needs of The United Methodist Church and United Methodist Communications.  With an emphasis on communications training, this position focuses on the analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation of communications training (online, face-to-face, and blended), resources and assistance to local churches, districts and annual conference.
Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.  Preferred bachelor’s degree in adult learning, training and online learning; instructional design and course development, social learning or a related field.
  •  At least 3 years prior experience in education with adult learners, training online and blended learning, instructional design, communications and digital technology is required.
  • Proficiency in Moodle or similar Learning Management System is preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.  Able to present information to individuals and groups.
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite applications, including:  MS-Word, MS-Excel, MS-PowerPoint, and MS-Outlook.
  • Experience with image editing programs (Photoshop or similar), desktop publishing (Adobe InDesign), audio/video applications and web-based content management systems is preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines is required. (30% travel)
  • Ability to make decisions and be accountable for them in a very fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of The United Methodist Church is preferred.
