Scanning & Document Delivery
As of 2020, the School of Theology Library has committed to providing document delivery and scanning requests for all BU STH students, faculty, and staff from our Stacks, Oversize, Reference, and Periodicals collections. The library processes these requests through ILLiad (the same program that we use to process our InterLibrary Loan or ILL requests).
To request a scan of a book chapter or journal article that BU owns:
- Click here to log into ILLiad.
- Place a “book chapter request” or “article request” in the same way that you would do for an InterLibrary Loan (ILL) book chapter or article request.
- Please allow up to 3 business days for processing.
- When the request becomes available, you will receive an email with a link back into ILLiad.
- On the lefthand menu, choose “Access Electronically Delivered Articles” and download the PDF of your requested scan. [Note that you have 2 weeks to download the PDF, before it is cleared from the system.]
The following screencast shows how to place and access scan requests:
This service is only available to School of Theology students, faculty, and staff. BU Faculty and doctoral students can reach out to Theology Library staff directly at sthref@bu.edu with scanning requests.
Note: All scanning is subject to U.S. Copyright Law.
