Parren is responsible for developing and delivering sustainability outreach programs and initiatives across all BU campuses in support of the university’s climate action and zero waste plans.

Prior to joining the BU Sustainability team, Parren co-founded and managed a ‘library of things’ in Sweden where he helped provide the student community at Lund University with free access to outdoor equipment, electronics, household items, games, and more. He also has a deep interest in exploring various intersections of sustainability. As a former member of a participatory art collective, he explored the intersections of art and sustainability through the co-creation of immersive experiences at academic conferences, university events, and sustainability festivals. He is deeply dedicated to understanding the complexities and intersections of sustainability challenges and hopes to leverage his educational background, personal interests, and unique life experiences in his role to add greater nuance to current and future sustainability programs and initiatives at BU.
