What BU is doing

BU is continuously identifying ways to save water throughout the campus. Here are just a few:

• Harvest rain water for landscape irrigation
• Install rain sensors on irrigation systems
• Use drip irrigation systems in planting beds
• Install self-charging, hands-free sink faucets
• Install dual-flush and sensor-based toilets
• Eliminate dining hall trays

Be part of the solution

• Set a timer for your showers to be mindful of water use
• Replace plumbing fixtures at home with low-flow fixtures
• When gardening, use a rainwater barrel, drip irrigation, and replace lawns with native plants and rain gardens
• Turn off the faucet while brushing your teeth and washing your face
• Only run dishwashers and washing machines when you have a full load
