Upgrade to MyMedia/Blackboard Media Players – Sunday 10/13

UPDATE: We have postponed the upgrade of the MyMedia V2 player to the V7 player due to an unforeseen issue. We are working with the vendor to rectify the issue so we can upgrade it in the future.
We are excited to inform you about an upcoming upgrade to the media player in Blackboard and MyMedia, Boston University’s video streaming platform, that will enhance your experience with improved functionality and security.
WHAT'S CHANGING?
On Sunday, October 13th, 2024, we will implement a system-wide upgrade to the media player used in Blackboard and MyMedia, including media embedded through the 'Add Media' button, Media Gallery, My Media tools, and Video Quizzes in Blackboard. Currently, this update will only impact new uploads and will feature faster load times, a responsive design, improved mobile recordings, and a transcript viewer with clickable captions and download options, ensuring a smoother and more reliable experience for all users.
WHAT’S NOT CHANGING
Although the upgraded MyMedia player (v7) may have a slightly different look and feel, your streaming process will remain the same. Content created before October 13, 2024, will continue to use the older MyMedia player (v2) until it’s updated to the new player at a later date.
