To enable TCP/IP Filtering on Novell Netware (4.x-6.x)
- At the server console prompt, type LOAD INETCFG and press ENTER
- Select Protocols and press ENTER
- Select TCP/IP and Press ENTER
- Set Filter Support to ENABLED and press ENTER
- Press ESC until you are back out to the console prompt
- Type reinitialize system at the console prompt
To Configure Filters
- At the server console prompt, type LOAD FILTCFG and press ENTER
- Select Configure TCP/IP Filters and press ENTER
- From the TCP/IP Window, select Packet Forwarding Filters and press ENTER
- Current Configuration should be
i. Status: Enabled
ii. Action: Deny packets in filter list (Permit Packets not in filter list)
iii. Filters: List of Denied Packets
iv. Exceptions: List of packets always transmitted
- At this window, highlight the selection Filters: List of Denied Packets and press ENTER
- Press INSERT to define a new filter
- Configure as desired with appropriate ports, protocols, subnets, and ip addresses.
- Press ESC when filter configuration is complete
- Select YES to save the filter
