Zoom AI Companion provides meeting hosts and attendees with additional capabilities that help improve real-time collaboration, post-meeting recaps, and recording navigation.
IS&T encourages you to be mindful of the content of your meetings before using Zoom AI Companion, especially in meetings where privileged, confidential, or restricted use data will be discussed. Meeting Summaries, Questions, and Smart Recordings are based on machine-generated meeting transcripts and should be reviewed for accuracy and suitability before distributing them to other attendees.
Benefits
Zoom AI Companion can be enabled and managed as part of your existing meeting workflows or from the web. For example, meeting summaries can be started or stopped with a click from within your meeting. If you’d rather start a summary for all of your meetings automatically, you can do that too. Rest assured that Zoom does not use any customer audio, video, chat, screen sharing, attachments or other communications-like content to train Zoom’s or its 3rd-party AI models.
Key Features
- Notify meeting attendees when AI features will be used in a meeting.
- Stop summaries and delete generated data from within a meeting.
- Ask questions about what’s been discussed so far in your meeting.
- Edit and share meeting summaries with attendees.
- Identify assigned action items and tasks.
- Navigate cloud recordings more efficiently with smart chapter creation.
- Receive coaching feedback after a meeting for factors like talking speed, filler words, and talk-listen ratio.
Features which rely on speaker identification, such as task assignment, may not work as expected in hybrid meetings that includes a conference room with multiple people.
What to Expect
Zoom AI Companion is an opt-in functionality designed with security in mind
- User Consent: Hosts must start AI Companion within a meeting before it can be used. Data will not be processed retroactively. When AI features are used for a meeting, attendees will be notified.
- Model Training: Zoom will not use and does not permit 3rd-party processors to use customer data when training models. Transcript data is used only for the purpose of providing the service to the user.
- Data Privacy: Data is encrypted in-transit between meeting attendees, the Zoom cloud platform, and any 3rd party processors. Zoom and its 3rd-party processors are reviewed and subject to information found in Zoom’s Privacy Statement and Trust Center.
For additional information, please see Zoom’s AI Companion data handling documentation.
Much like cloud recordings, Meeting Summaries and their associated transcripts will automatically move to the trash after 365 days and can be deleted by the host at any time.
