Absolute FTP’s support for displaying hidden files – defined here as those whose names start with a period (”.”) – is buggy. Although there are options to set it to display hidden file types such as .htaccess files by default, they don’t always work. Fortunately, there is a work-around:
- Connect to the web server and navigate to the directory that you wish to access
- From the upper left hand menu, select “Options” and “Session Options”; a dialogue box will appear.
- Under “Options/FTP,” check the box for “All entries” and then select “OK.”
- Refresh the view of the web directory (you can do this by pressing “F5” or selecting the icon in the upper left hand corner); any .htaccess files should now appear.
