Before creating a static content (non-WordPress) website, it is important that you understand the basics of HTML and CSS, as the two essential technologies used on all websites.
Information Services & Technology does not offer trainings or support for custom HTML and CSS, but many tutorials and classes are available online. For example, Khan Academy’s Intro to HTML/CSS covers basic usage with interactive exercises.
If you are not comfortable working with HTML and CSS, we strongly recommend that you use WordPress for your website. WordPress automates much of the HTML creation, and IS&T is available to support you in creating your content.
You can create a static content site using any software you’re comfortable using. IS&T recommends using Adobe Dreamweaver.
