ADW Repoint to MyBU Student / Campus Solutions: FAQs
Since the formal launch of the SIS Renewal program and during the background process of repointing ADW to the new system, ADW clients have reached out with questions that remain relevant during and after deployment. We have answered a few common questions below.
What does a new SIS implementation mean for ADW?
SIS impacts ADW as a change to the source where ADW pulls much of its Student Information from. The ADW team has worked within the SIS program to ensure ADW continues to access the same information, only from Campus Solutions instead of UIS. This effort has been known as the ADW repoint. We are now live with our first release impacting the admissions module of ADW.
MyBU Student/Campus Solutions is live! When will I see updated ADW reports?
The ADW team is working hard to update our warehouse for the new system; however, we were not able to release all updates concurrent with the new system go-live in May 2024. Here’s what to expect:
-
- We will keep all the current ADW reports available to you. This means that any analytics you need to produce on student enrollment data through Spring 2024 will remain accessible in ADW.
- We will have multiple Academic Data Warehouse enrollment releases throughout AY 25. Our first release will focus on student-term/demographic data, followed by course details, then graduation and retention.
- Our first two enrollment releases are live (3/13/25)!
- In this release:
-
You’ll now see snapshots for summer 2024 onward! Enrollment snapshots will be daily going forward.
- Course/class enrollment and GPA data is available
-
New Academic Structure data is available, along with preserved legacy attributes for terms through Spring 2024
-
Student demographics
-
Student status reports
-
- Not in this release:
-
Graduation Details after Spring 2024
-
Financial Aid Trends after Spring 2024
-
- In this release:
- We are going live with updates to all existing certified enrollment and crossover reports to accommodate the system changes. If there are gaps in our service offerings or you would like a new report/dashboard created, please contact us at asirhelp@bu.edu.
Will non-certified reports I was using before the repoint still work after deployment?
Efforts have been made to make sure the repoint will be as seamless as possible from the user’s perspective. In many cases reports should continue running as expected, but some reports may require minor changes to produce data or produce data in the expected format. If you have reports saved into your My Reports folder, you may need to replace them using the new certified reports. Reach out to asirhelp@bu.edu with any questions you have.
Will data points and attributes I’m used to using or seeing still be available after the repoint?
At the very least, they will be available historically up until a certain historical academic semester. Some concepts that are relevant historically but no longer exist will be populated with an unknown or question mark after a certain date. Other concepts like major, will have history migrated, but will also be populated going forward based on a Campus Solutions methodology (derived from plan and subplan). Finally, there are some concepts from Campus Solutions that we couldn’t populate conceptually historically, so those will only be populated based on production data from Campus Solutions.
Is ADW still a central data resource?
Yes, ADW is and will remain the central data resource, with the same or equivalent reporting functionalities for all clients.
What main changes should I expect to see?
Campus Solutions comes with its own data elements and labels, and with the new source, ADW reports include both new and changes descriptions, terms, and format. We are expecting that the shift in the way data is represented to be largely intuitive but are supporting users with an updated Certified Report Catalog, crosswalks, and tutorials to prevent confusion any changes may produce.
We have also implemented the new Academic Data Warehouse Retention Policy. This means that you will see all snapshots for the current cycle and past three years, but we have kept only census snapshots (Official Mid-Semester and Official Final) for years before that. We will continue to cull snapshots annually in alignment with this policy.
