LGBTQIA+ Scholar Series: Coming Out and Pushing Forward: Learning from LGBTQIA+ Latines

  • Starts: 12:30 pm on Friday, October 11, 2024
  • Ends: 1:45 pm on Friday, October 11, 2024

Featuring Luis R. Alvarez-Hernandez, Assistant Professor. School of Social Work

Coming out is a significant liberatory process for many LGBTQIA+ individuals. However, coming out can also mean facing a hostile and violent society, particularly in the current political climate. How do we come out and then push forward for maintaining our liberation? In this talk, Prof. Alvarez-Hernandez will discuss how LGBTQIA+ Latines take care of each other and engage in liberation efforts. He will share examples from his research with LGBTQIA+ Latine communities' transformational leaders.

LGBTQIA+ Scholar Series events are open to all members of the BU community including students and alums. Please check out the list of all BU faculty talks this academic year https://www.bu.edu/thecenter/programs-services/scholar-series/
