Transgender Day of Remembrance Memorial and Flag Installation
- Starts: 3:00 pm on Wednesday, November 20, 2024
- Ends: 6:52 am on Sunday, April 27, 2025
Please gather on Comm Lawn to help us place flags in commemoration of those who have died in the past year due to anti-transgender violence. The display will be up through Friday afternoon, November 22, so stop by the installation anytime during that time to honor the lives of all of those in the transgender community that we have lost over the past year.
In honor of the 25th anniversary of International Transgender Day of Remembrance, which began in 1998 to memorialize the murders of Black trans women Rita Hester (from Allston, MA) and Chanelle Pickett (from Watertown, MA), we will have a program at our November 20 event at the COM Lawn. In addition to planting flags, President Gilliam will be joining us and sharing remarks.
