The Howard Thurman Center for Common Ground was featured in The Daily Free Press article “Howard Thurman scholars discuss legacy, breadth of famous BU figure’s work.” Author Peter Eisenstadt expressed a clear purpose for his book Against the Hounds of Hell, which fueled the discussion: “One thing I wanted to do in the book was to give a sense of how capacious he was, and how many areas he touched, without for a moment discounting his importance as a theorist of non-violence and as a forerunner to King,” he said at the event. “He can’t be limited to that, he shouldn’t be limited to that.”
Panelists also included Dr. Walter Earl Fluker, Dr. Shively T. J. Smith, Rabbi Or Rose, and moderator Nick Bates.
