In October, the Howard Thurman Center for Common Ground launched Lift Every Voice and Sing, a new series dedicated to exploring the influence of American music on popular culture and social movements. “The Muddy Waters Effect,” the first conversation in this series, explored the profound impact Black American blues artists had on predominantly white bands associated with the British Invasion of the 1960s and 70s.
