Find a Carpool partner with GoMassCommute
Allston-Brighton TMA provides its members, including BU, with a powerful ride matching tool called GoMassCommute. Employees who share a carpool permit can save 75% or more on parking!
Here’s how you get started:
- Visit Boston University’s GoMassCommute page and register
- Enter your home and work addresses as prompted
- Find and contact colleagues who live nearby and would like to ride or drive in a carpool!

Start a Carpool
The price of a carpool is split evenly among members but it all starts with one “leader.” That leader must use the Transportation Management Portal to name the carpool (e.g. “Bill and Jed’s Excellent Vanventure”) and invite others to join it.
Here’s how to start a carpool:
- log in to the Transportation Management Portal (you may be prompted for your Kerberos username and password),
- select “Start a Carpool,”
- select “Employee Carpool,”
- specify the number of members your carpool will have (including yourself),
- invite the other carpool member(s) by providing their name(s) and email address(es) (We recommend using BU email addresses) then press “Confirm,”
- provide your name as the “Primary Contact,” then press “Confirm,”
- provide your home address as “Your Local Address,” then press “Confirm,”
- press “Add Vehicle” or, if the vehicle you wish to register is already stored in the system, select it from the list shown,
- provide your vehicle information
- License Plate # (Please take care when entering your plate number. A typo may result in difficulty parking.)
- License Plate State
- Vehicle Make
- Vehicle Model
- Vehicle Color
- press “add,”
- select “I have read and agree to the terms of service above” to agree to the Carpool Permit Policy,
- press “Agree and submit.”
You will receive an email confirming that you have invited others to join your carpool. The carpool will not be “active” until they have accepted your invite (see below) at which point you will be sent another email confirming the creation and activation of your carpool.
Join a Carpool
If someone has invited you to join a carpool, there are two ways to confirm your interest in joining:
- Check your email for an invitation to join a carpool. At the bottom of the email, there will be a link to “join.”
- Log in to the Transportation Management Portal (you may be prompted for your Kerberos username and password) and select the “Accept a carpool invitation” icon.
From there you will be prompted to provide your vehicle information and agree to our Carpool Policies.
When all carpool members have accepted their invitations, provided vehicle information, and agreed to the Carpool Policies, the carpool will become active and you may begin to park in any Carpool-approved lots.
You will receive a confirmation email when your Carpool Permit becomes active.
