Frequently Asked Questions
Can I take summer classes?
Both SFs and PCs are allowed to take summer classes during Summer Term 1 and 2. SFs do not need approval to take Summer Term 1 classes, as SFs will not start working until July. Anyone taking Summer Term 2 classes must first get them approved by Orientation Professional Staff to ensure class times don’t directly interfere with Orientation responsibilities. PCs are able to take Summer Term 1 classes as long as it does not interfere with Orientation responsibilities and are approved by Orientation Professional Staff.
Please discuss your potential class schedule with the Orientation leadership team before registering for classes.
Are the Orientation Leader positions for the whole summer?
It depends. Student Facilitators will only be working from Tuesday, July 7th, 2025 through Sunday, August 31, 2025. Program Coordinators will be working the full summer- Monday, May 12, 2025 through Sunday, August 31, 2025.
Is remote work available?
University Orientation will be fully in-person. There will be no opportunities for remote work.
Is summer housing provided?
Yes! On-campus summer housing will be provided and paid for by the Orientation Office. Student employees will live in an apartment-style residence with a full kitchen. Exact locations will be announced by BU Housing in May. Student facilitators will only be provided summer 2 housing. Program Coordinators will be provided housing for the full summer.
Can I have another job/internship in addition to working for Orientation?
SFs will be working on average 20 hours a week during the month of July. SFs can have another job as long as it does not interfere with Orientation responsibilities. If you plan to work another job on campus during the summer please inform the Orientation professional staff team. Students can not work more than 40 hours a week. PCs cannot have another on-campus job. The PC role is a full-time job throughout the summer.
I am studying abroad during Spring 2025, can I still apply?
Yes! Please indicate on your application you are studying abroad. Orientation will reach out to you about setting up a virtual interview once your application is submitted. All training will take place after the Spring semester ends.
