Overview

My research lab, GLOB~S https://www.globalscopelab.com/, is seeking a Research Assistant to support and coordinate research projects that delve into the role of disruption in strategy. You will be at the forefront of understanding how organizations adapt to large-scale shocks, how these choices influence their performance, and their wider impact on society.

The position is ideal for someone with a strong background in Python programming and Natural Language Processing (NLP), who is enthusiastic about scraping and coding data for innovative research projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement web scraping tools to collect data from various online sources.
Preprocess, clean, and structure large datasets for analysis.
Apply NLP techniques to analyze and interpret textual data.
Collaborate with the research team to design and execute data-driven projects.
Assist in the development of algorithms and models for data analysis.
Document code and maintain a repository of scripts and tools developed.

Qualifications:

Studying a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Computational Linguistics, or a related field.
Strong proficiency in Python, with experience in libraries like BeautifulSoup, Scrapy, Pandas, NLTK, and TensorFlow or PyTorch.
Demonstrated experience in web scraping and handling various data formats (JSON, XML, HTML, etc.).
Familiarity with NLP techniques and tools for text processing and analysis.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Prior experience in a research environment is a plus.
