Dr. Longman is an associate professor and the director of both the African Studies Center and the Institute on Culture, Religion, and World Affairs (CURA) in the Boston University Department of Political Science. His research focuses on state-society relations in Africa, and his interests include human rights, transitional justice, democratization, civil society, the politics of race and ethnicity, religion and politics, and women and politics.
