Degree Requirements

The EdM in Education for Equity & Social Justice at BU Wheelock College of Education & Human Development is geared toward professionals who work in educational and human development institutions, and governmental and nongovernmental social and community agencies. You’ll be prepared with the knowledge, skills, and dispositions to interrogate common justifications for discriminatory practices that adversely affect the life trajectories of people who have been historically marginalized in this country and elsewhere due to differences in income, class, gender, health status, education, ability, or religion.

As a student in the master’s in Education for Equity & Social Justice, you’ll work with experts across several disciplines to understand how inequities manifest across these systems. You will also gain the tools to design strategies for ameliorating and reversing inequities. Full-time students can complete the master’s in 12 months (including summer courses), while part-time students can finish the program within two years.

Note: The 22 core credits for this degree can only be completed online. The 12 credits of electives may be completed either online or in person.
