Degree Requirements

The graduate certificate in Physics Education (Secondary Level) at Boston University Wheelock College of Education & Human Development is designed for qualified post-baccalaureate students who are interested in receiving initial licensure in physics, grades 8–12. You will expand your pedagogical knowledge, and learn to plan effective curriculum, promote inquiry and scientific thinking, integrate the Next Generation Science Standards into your teaching, and more. You’ll be ready for your career as a beginning teacher of secondary-level physics. Coursework includes classes on science education theory and practice, adolescent development, classroom management, instruction for English language learners, and more.
