Andrea St. John

Doctoral Student

Andrea St. John is a doctoral student in educational leadership & policy studies at Boston University Wheelock College of Education & Human Development. She brings a wealth of knowledge in district curriculum development, transformational leadership, as well as years of experience as a school-based leader.

Andrea has worked in large urban school districts such as the New York City Department of Education, Montgomery County Public Schools of Maryland, and Baltimore City Public Schools. As a result, she has vested work in cultivating well-rounded student support teams to address students’ academic and behavioral needs, implementing equity based instructional practices as well as launching school improvement strategic planning. Andrea has provided oversight for streamlining school operations and creating sustainable community-based partnerships. Her dissertation interests include equity-based recruitment and retention efforts for urban populations which compliment student demographics, and systemic plans which are closely aligned with school budgets and school day timing.

Andrea was raised in New Haven, Connecticut. She attended Central Connecticut State University, where she received her bachelor’s degree in political science and women’s studies. She later received her master’s degree in early childhood education from Long Island University–Brooklyn Campus with a concentration in literacy.
