Associate Director, BU/BPS Academic Partnerships

Irene Dennison is the associate director of BU/BPS academic partnerships at Boston University Wheelock College of Education & Human Development. In this role, Ms. Dennison splits her time between BU Wheelock’s Strategic Partnerships & Community Engagement Office and Boston Public Schools’ district central office, to support and develop new and existing co-created academic credit-bearing programs.

Before joining BU Wheelock, Ms. Dennison was the director of school partnerships at Boston Schools Fund and developed the $2.3 million Partnering with Educators to Advance Knowledge grant program supporting Boston schools implementing high-quality instructional materials through operational excellence, building the systems and structures necessary for effective program management.

Ms. Dennison began her career as an AmeriCorps Fellow at a charter high school in Chelsea before becoming a kindergarten teacher in Bridgeport, Conn., through Teach For America (TFA). After stepping outside of the classroom, she has held multiple leadership roles in Massachusetts and Boston including manager of teacher leadership development at TFA Massachusetts and education success manager at MIND Research Institute.
