Doctoral Student

Nicolina Fusco is a doctoral student in the Counseling Psychology program at BU Wheelock College of Education & Human Development. Her research focuses on bias-based harassment in adolescence through nationally representative sampled data. Her interests are related to identity formation in adolescence and bullying surrounding sexual orientation and identity.

Before joining BU, Niki worked at the Consultation Center at Yale University as a research assistant under Jacob Tebes and Dr. Elizabeth Connors. She worked on a several projects related to measurement-based care in schools, substance-use prevention in adolescence, the effects of COVID-19 on the mental health of healthcare workers, and police reform. Earlier, she worked as an intake/case manager at the Door in New York City, supporting adolescence and young adults who had various needs from mental health support to immigration and housing services. As an undergraduate at CUNY, she conducted an honors thesis studying child self-efficacy and parental practices.
