Weiqiao Zhang

Weiqiao (Liana) Zhang is a doctoral student in Language & Literacy Education at BU Wheelock College of Education & Human Development. Weiqiao’s research interests include academic language development, multilingual communication, and the identity construction of Chinese graduate students in English-dominant academic settings where she focuses on Chinese international students’ capability to leverage multilingual and multicultural resources. Weiqiao also aims to improve language support programs targeting international students in graduate school.
Before joining BU, Weiqiao was an English teacher at the International Foundation Program at Beijing Foreign Studies University, where she worked with students who were preparing to pursue higher education in English-speaking countries. She taught English for Academic Purposes (EAP) courses, specializing in listening and reading skills. Earlier than that, Weiqiao studied TESOL at the University of Pennsylvania and worked as a graduate assistant.
