Peace Corps Coverdell Fellows
The Peace Corps and Boston University Wheelock College of Education & Human Development are partners in the Paul D. Coverdell Fellows program, which offers a graduate school scholarship to returned Peace Corps volunteers who wish to pursue graduate degrees in select fields of study. BU Wheelock master’s degrees are taught by faculty who are leaders in their fields, and our specialized programs provide the ideal blend of theoretical knowledge alongside skill-building exercises and experiential opportunities.
Master of Education (EdM): Expands students’ knowledge of a particular content area while also exploring research and theory.
Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT): Enables individuals interested in earning the initial teaching licensure needed to become a successful classroom teacher at the middle or high school level.

Coverdell Fellows gain valuable, hands-on experience that makes them more competitive in today’s job market while furthering the Peace Corps mission. All program fellows will complete internships in underserved Greater Boston communities while they pursue their studies, allowing them to apply what they learn in the classroom to a professional setting. BU Wheelock will support fellows in seeking a paid practicum/internship.
