Myeongok Lee holds a M.A in Japanese Linguistics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and has taught at a variety of institutions including the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Vassar College, and Kanda Gaigo Career College in Japan.

She has also developed and implemented a first Korean program at Western Kentucky University. In addition to her teaching experience, she has worked as a business development officer at a Japanese IT firm and have conducted intercultural research at a Japanese company in the United States.

Her research interests include sound perception and production of second languages, pedagogy, second language acquisition and intercultural communication in business environments.

She teaches Japanese language and content courses at all levels, including first, second, and third-year Japanese language courses, as well as third and fourth-year content courses (Japanese for the Professions and Japanese through Media). Currently, she also serves as the first-year coordinator of the Japanese Language Program and is an active member of the BU Global House committee.
